Accessibility and Proctoring

Kadenze is committed to making sure that our site is accessible to everyone. For this reason, we include a high contrast version of our site, closed captioning on our lecture videos, and a customizable proctoring/verification process for individuals who are blind or deaf.

Kadenze offers our site in an ADA compliant “Alternate Contrast Theme” in order to provide a more visually accessible experience.

Virtual Proctoring

In order to submit assignments and receive credit for Kadenze courses, you will need to periodically verify your identity using our virtual proctoring technology. Virtual Proctoring involves facial recognition, voice recognition, and a short typing analysis.

Premium members will need to pass Virtual Proctoring now and then, while For-Credit students will need to pass proctoring for each coursework they submit. Proctoring isn't required for participation assignments, like Peer Assessment or Forum Participation.

We offer a customizable proctoring service. While we encourage users to use all three proctoring types, you may turn off the following if you need (for instance, your microphone is broken, or you don't have a camera):

To turn off facial recognition:
  1. Log in to Kadenze.
  2. Click your name in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
  3. From the drop-down menu, click Account Settings.
  4. In the Proctoring field, check the box associated with Vision. (See Figure 3)

To turn off voice recognition:
  1. Log in to Kadenze.
  2. Click your name in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
  3. From the drop-down menu, click Account Settings.
  4. In the Proctoring field, check the box associated with Hearing. (See Figure 3)
